Tribes , Translators and Triumph

I can feel the joyful bliss of a new season beginning . The evening is becoming an earlier phenomenon , back to school pictures are permeating social media and inspiring quotes are readily available . I can smell the freshness of expensive planners and I can see the smiles of teams ready to engage the unknown nature of newness . As we come face to face with this beautiful opportunity to be and do better, we have to be mindful of some of the factors that contributed to past failures and even worse averageness .

Instead of writing about what not to do, it will be better if I encourage you to be proactive in your daily pursuit of creating a better future .

  1. Find a community of people who are invested in your wellbeing and success . Yesterday should be the last day that you sojourn life’s path without a tribe . Who are the people who will fuel your creativity and zeal ? Who will encourage you through loving honesty and genuine support ? Who can you trust with your quirks , problematic tendencies and other habits that you need to break? Answering these questions are not easy but they are required if you want to accomplish your goals this season .
  2. We all need translators ! Translators are people who help you process things that you do not understand . They have had seasons of failure and success and have extracted wisdom that will save you time and treasures . They are the mentors who speak to the real you . They are the inroads to having a better understanding of the circumstances of life . They are the wisdom crowd that should surround you , so you do not fall into the pitfalls of procrastination , arrogance and/or self sabotage . Who are the translators in your life ?
  3. It is easy to wait to the end of your goal to wave the flag of success but I argue that we should celebrate the record of triumph throughout the life cycle of the particular goal . Let’s say your goal is to write 25 articles from now to the end of the year . I suggest celebrating in increments of five . So when the 20th article has been written, that would be the occasion for the fourth celebration . We have a tendency to wait to the end to declare victory . I want to leave you with a nugget of wisdom ,

“We fight from a place of victory and not for victory” — Unknown

With this quote in mind , I encourage you to find your tribe , establish deep relationships with your translators and find ways to celebrate your triumphs regularly.
