There are days when you are on a personal and professional high . The project is completed throughly , the meetings went better than expected and your team is poised to maximize their leadership . Today , I am writing about the other days . The days where you are emotionally drained from the burdensome nature of being excellent , physically tired from constantly being on the go and depleted of all of the energy necessary to operate as the growth provoker you are known to be .

So how do you create when your day is cloudy ? I want to offer a two suggestions that will aid you in utilizing the dullness of your mood as a tool for designing a masterful day .

1.Meet with Energy Boosters

When I worked as a student affairs leader , there were days that I simply didn't have it . Over time I discovered that these days were a normal part of my career . Many times I knew that my day was going to be difficult well before I arrived on campus . A solution that I developed was to meet with colleagues who had energy lifting abilities . I would ask to have a 20 minute meeting with them to work through a challenging workplace situation . After the meeting , I felt energized and the project was pushed forward .

2. Organize Your Work

Another way to push pass the cordons of dreariness is to organize existing work . You must take time in an isolated space to organize the work you already have . This act of strategically arranging your projects and action steps is not only a great practice to add to your leadership toolbox but it is also a critical step in accomplishing your goals. Organizing in effect is a way to continue taking steps towards your goals without directly engaging other people .

Final Thoughts

The two methods above are ways to find motivation when you are melancholy. I am confident that despite the weightiness of this moment , you will be able to use them to masterfully color the canvas of your purpose.
